The SPIRIT of our Company–Our Company STORY - Whitewater Rafting California
California River Rafting Excitement was born while myself and a group of my friends were taking our yearly end of the season Rogue River 4-day white water rafting California trip. As we were sitting around the campfire one evening and began talking about and how much we all loved white water rafting California. Someone then said that we should form our own whitewater rafting California company and begin taking people down the American River for ourselves instead of for someone else. As the conversation went on I began to get very excited about the idea even though for everyone else it was a mere fantasy and pipe dream. But for me it was something far more.
The first time that I read about white water rafting California, I was about 16 years old and I was reading a black and white publication about adventurers seeking new excitement. There was a story about some guys challenging the South Fork of the American’s mighty rapids. It went through the description of the whitewater rafting California trip, river and rapids. After reading that I decided that it would be really cool to do and if someone was doing it, I could do it.
May 1972 I gathered up some friends and took on the mighty South Fork of the American river. It was the best thing that I had ever done. From the moment I saw the river I got a special feeling inside. The feeling of excitement, adventure, fear and challenge. That feeling is still with me some 30 years later. Whenever I see the river, especially a new one, I get this excitement that is like no other feeling I have experienced.
It is that feeling that I want to share with the people who come up for white water rafting California. Whitewater rafting California will give you feeling of excitement, challenge, nervousness, fear, and the feeling of accomplishment when we have completed the river journey. Taking a person who is totally scared before the white water rafting California trip and having them say at the end of the trip, wow we are done already, I need more rapids! Sharing this feeling and excitement, a beautiful river canyon along with the meeting new people is what I want California River Rafting Excitement to be about.
One day would really transform me with the help of a couple of our guests:
While driving our bus back from the river with a group of guests from a white water rafting California trip not unlike the one the day before or the day before that, a conversation began with a couple of the guests behind me. One man said that this white water rafting California trip was the most exciting thing he had ever done in his life. The other man agreed and said that he had needed a weekend like this one for the past 5 years. He said it was the first time in nearly that long he had time to relax, laugh, scream with excitement and best of all spend quality time with his wife and two kids. The feeling of stress that he has been carrying with him for longer that he could remember was gone. What he said next really moved me. He said that he is so relaxed and it has become so clear to him what he has been missing the last 5 or so years.
He has rediscovered his wife and kids and now knows what is really important in life.
I got such a great feeling of satisfaction that afternoon in the bus hearing the man tell his story and that white water rafting California was directly responsible for making his life better. I thought to myself, YES this is what it is all about, taking people out of their working, stressful and time consuming life and putting them in a place and situation when they can relax, experience challenge and excitement all in a setting of caring and sharing.
California River Rafting Excitement is about people, sharing whitewater rafting California adventures and helping ourselves and our guests experience things that would not normally do on their own. It is about taking them out of their everyday, busy, hectic life and putting some relaxation in them. It is not just about rivers, California whitewater rafting, and wild rapids (however, these are the paths we use), it is about sharing ourselves and experiences with people we do not yet know but will after a very short time with them.
